Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always
do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.

Hi and Welcome,

I am a mother of a child diagnosed with Primary Intestinal Lymphangiectasia.  And I, like a lot of parents, I've searched
and searched for information about IL.  At that time there was very little information about IL and what there was
specified canines with IL.  Until one day I came across a message board.  There were only a few messages on IL and I
was determined to reach at least one person.  With sending four e-mails that night I so hoped to get a reply.  That next
morning I did.  I received a reply from a mother of a baby with IL.  We shared our experiences; we shared our support;
we shared our lives.  We share a very special friendship.  Her name is Helen and together we realized how important
our experiences and support has meant to each other, aside from our friendship.  We didn't want anyone else to
experience the difficulties we've had.  This is how Little Leakers was born.

Lymphangiectasia is a very rare disorder.  If you have found this site then you know by now how rare this disorder is.
We have met some very nice people on our searches.  And we have come to realize that we need to all come together.
Along with the doctors from around the world who have treated patients with this disorder. There is information out
there and experiences that need to be shared so we can all learn more about this awful disorder.  We need to try and
bring attention to this disorder so that research can and will be done to find more medical options in the treatment and
care of patients with this disorder.

Our goal is to do just that and to form a place for parents to gain information and support.  We have given our loved
ones a place to get to know each other and to know that they are not alone.  We now have over 300 fat free recipes.
But most of all we offer friendship and support.  We are fighting to make life for our loved ones a little easier.  We are
also searching for professional support with this disorder.  At the same time we are searching for ways to get funding
for research.  If you need information or have a loved one affected by this rare disorder please let us know and help us
to make our voices be heard.

Best Wishes To All,
Alecia & Helen
History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they
triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.
